A small, parent-run project
TwinkleHush is run by a family with a baby in the house. One of us is a software engineer; none of us is a pediatrician, sleep consultant, or child psychologist, and we don't pretend to be. What we bring is the habit of reading the actual studies before repeating a claim, and building things carefully.
We started because the baby-content world is full of confident promises the research doesn't back — videos that "boost your baby's brain," sleep machines cranked to hearing-risk volume, milestone charts that turn averages into deadlines. We wanted the calm, honest version to exist. So we made it.
What we will and won't say
- Every statistic is cited to a published source, and the source is listed at the bottom of the page or in the video description. If we can't find the study, we don't use the number.
- We never claim a screen helps a baby develop. The American Academy of Pediatrics advises no screen media before about 18–24 months, and the research on high-contrast play is about physical cards. So our sleep videos are audio products with dark, still visuals, and our printables are "the real product."
- Nothing we make "accelerates" milestones, and we say so on the milestones page.
- Learning videos are for ages 2 and up, watched together, built to the published preschool-media recipe — never for infants.
- Safe volume, every time. Every sleep description repeats the ~50 dB, speaker-away-from-the-crib guidance.
- Baby-directed videos are marked "Made for Kids" on YouTube; parent-facing explainers are not, so comments stay open for questions and corrections.
Built in-house, checked before upload
Every sound you hear on a TwinkleHush video is composed and synthesized by us: the music-box lullabies, the brown-noise beds, the rain and the waves. No stock libraries, no samples of other people's recordings. The visuals, the printable cards, and the slides in our Shorts are generated by our own scripts from the same design system as this site.
Before anything goes up, it passes a fixed set of checks:
- A full-length decode and loudness scan — sleep audio is mastered quiet on purpose.
- An automated photosensitivity pass: no flashing, no rapid luminance swings, slow fades only.
- A seam check on every loop, so nothing changes when a baby surfaces between sleep cycles.
- A human listen-through or read-through of anything with words.
No ads, no signup, no trackers
This site carries no advertising, no affiliate links, no sponsorships, and no email capture; the card sets download with one click. The YouTube channel may earn standard YouTube advertising revenue in future, which is how we would cover hosting; nothing on this site is paid placement.
Nothing runs in your browser to track you: no analytics scripts, no cookies, no social-media pixels. Our host (AWS CloudFront) keeps standard server access logs for 90 days, and we read them only as aggregate page counts to see which guides are useful. Links to YouTube and Pinterest go to those sites, which have their own policies.
Tell us when we're wrong
If a citation is off, a number is stale, or a page reads as more certain than the evidence allows, please tell us: hello@twinklehush.com. We fix errors and update the page's "modified" date. Comments are also open on every parent-facing video.
Everything here summarizes published research in plain language for parents. It is not medical advice and not a screening tool. For any concern about your baby's sleep, hearing, vision, or development, talk to your pediatrician — and if you're worried, ask for a standardized screening.
